How was I to delete?

I just got a notice of moderator action on my threads and a notice to pay attention to the rules. I posted a new ad and had every intention of deleting the old one, as per the rules I had read. After posting, I was surprised to find I couldn't delete my original thread. Then, I had the notion to edit the first thread, but I couldn't delete the original post, either. I searched for a help topic about deleting threads and found other users had renamed posts with awkward requests to delete, but those threads still exist. I was kind of stuck at an impasse at that point.

Now, my updated ad is attached to my first post with the old headline I didn't want. Not knowing beforehand if the timestamp would be reset and placed at the top of the list if I edited the first post, and I already had a bump post, I didn't want a messy thread with people reading old information and old bumps. This is a very different forum system than I've moderated in the past with easily deletable threads.

For the future, how should I have made significant changes to my ad, and will the timestamp and list ranking be reset with an edit to the first post? I still think that it would be awkward to have bumps after a first post of new content.

Someone I recently talked to on here has 2 threads, and I easily found a second user with 2 posts in the same area. Despite not being able to do anything about it, I didn't think it was a serious offense. What does my warning actually entail?

EDIT: Upon further tinkering, the merge thread function combined the tags, and now the merged thread has more than 10 tags, so I can't edit anything like changing the to the new headline I wanted or deleting the first post content and old bump text.

Use the report button, there is a report button on the bottom of your page report the thread and I will delete and move it for you.

There is also a bump policy, please read it. There is a sticky rule attached on top of the thread or written on the bottom of each title. Take note of them and you would be fine.

I hadn't had the intent to bump my old thread, as I wanted to start a new thread, and 'Report' to delete isn't intuitive or anything I've seen before. It looks like other people have just given up and renamed their threads 'Delete'.

I read all the rules you and whoever merged my threads told me to read and intended to comply, but this really felt bad as a newish user. I haven't been back much since because of it. I'll Report my thread to be deleted, and I may come back in a while and start over fresh. I bet admins don't want to have to collaborate with me on which hashtags I want to keep or not keep so I can edit the first post, anyways.

As per the rules, we do not delete threads. You can edit your thread all you want. It's not a matter of "What admins want to collaborate with you" on. You can also edit your tags by clicking on the button next to the list of tags you have.
