I'd be interested in playing Iron Heart, if that would work. How exactly will combat work?
Name: Riri Williams
Codename: Iron Heart
With the pink armor:
Personality: Introverted, but caring, brave, and confident in her abilities. Her friends are usually just those connected via work, enforcing a psuedo self-exile for the purpose of preventing tragedy.
History: Riri Williams began her college education at MIT when she was 15. She became interested in technology from an early age on. While on M.I.T, she dared herself into a project that would change her life forever- reverse-engineering Iron Man armor, adding her own innovations.
Powers/Skills: Super genius intellect; skilled inventor and engineer; Iron Heart armor with enhanced strength, speed, flight, and advanced weaponry
-Feel free to add height or any other things here if you want to.
It's super basic, I know, but I don't think that's a problem at the moment.
---- Sample Sheet (Richard Grayson) ----
Name: Richard "Dick" Grayson
Codename: Nightwing. Formerly Robin.
Appearance: Richard Grayson is, among other things, mildly fashionable. Mildly only because he tends to wear clothes he finds comfortable but he manages to make them look good. Most of the time. It was hard to make the spandex work for a while when he was in costume. Took a few revisions. When he's in normal clothes he's often found with just a plain shirt and jeans. Being raised by a rich man didn't give him rich tastes. He's always well-kept unless it's at the end of a long night on patrol which he hasn't had to do at Xavier's yet. His perpetually optimistic bent tends to make him have a smile on his face no matter what's going on. Or a more stoic expression when he's in hero mode.
Personality: Grayson is probably the most genuine, laidback, and pleasant hero people will have the pleasure of meeting. He sees the silver lining to just about everything and is more than happy to point it out to others. There's a sort of smoothness to the way he makes people feel at ease with a little joke and a smile. Don't mistake the easy going attitude for someone who is easy to dupe. For all his good will and intentions he was raised by Batman so he is on alert most of the time though he never really shows it. He's a little impulsive at times but generally he remains levelheaded in the face of challenges if not down right excited by the prospect of something pushing him further.
-Peak Human Physical Form
-World Class Detective
-Highly Trained Martial Artist
The story of Dick Grayson is very similar to the story of his future guardian and mentor. His parents, world class acrobats, were killed during a stunt leaving him by himself with a desire for vengeance. Seeing himself in Richard, Bruce Wayne took the young man in as his ward. From there the training began. As Robin he was there to temper his mentor when it was needed, provide input, and otherwise provide another source of humanity for the man whose crusade against crime often made him more of a recluse than a well functioning member of society. He was the man Gotham needed him to be and Grayson was the Robin Batman needed him to be. It was through these years he would be tutored and trained in so many subject and martial arts that he was quickly becoming one of the most brilliant detectives of a generation. He was never quite as good as Batman but he was well rounded and exceptional.
As Grayson discovered from many a night in Gotham he had no desire to become the Bat. He overcame the desire for vengeance that came with the death of his parents. He made peace with it and came to the conclusion that he should move on. That being bound by the past wasn't his path but rather looking forward and building a future his family would be proud of. A path he could be proud of. Rather than brood Grayson took to optimism and humor. Rather than endlessly defeating criminals every night and making sparing appearances during the day he was flourishing in the day. Batman had a natural charisma but Nightwing far surpassed that. The brooding hero could lead a group to achieve an end but Grayson discovered that he could inspire people. He never thought much about it. He just chose to believe the best in people and would work with them.
That was a skillset he began to flex as he met numerous members of the now vast hero community before, finally, he made the decision to step out of the Bat's shadow though he'd been doing so for a few years at that point. Enrolling in Xavier's school he decided that it was best that he expand his horizons and get involved with the next age of heroes. His mentorship under Bruce put him in a unique position to work as one of the team leaders for the students coming to the school. He was set, by Xavier, to become the leader of a small group of young heroes at first. Though, in reality, they would all be about the same age as him and have either been at the school for years or perhaps he brought them in himself.
He would call them...the Titans. Maybe the name needed work. He'd have to run it by the team.
ok I will need some help with Ivy since we are changing her.
I was thinking perhaps Dick managed to find her hideout hearing rumors she was making a plant army only to find she has no plans to cause trouble since she feels her efforts aren't helping her cause adn Dick could offer to help her.
Also I am doing the old poison Ivy XD as in the one who kisses you and your poisoned so relationships are going to be hard (who knows the boy wonder might be able to help XD)
That is pretty much Ivy been canon lol. She's always had the poisonous kiss.. she just doesnt use it all the time she made lipstick to to coat her lips with.. Harley Quinn is another I'd like to play lol but she is immune to ivy's toxins as well as joker gas thanks to ivy lol
To answer the question about combat, by the way, the answer is that combat will be predominantly PCs vs NPCs and, as a result, I'll try to play the villains as logically as I can. I'm not big on dice rolling in forum RPs because I feel like the logic and skill of the character should dictate results more than the luck of the die. Having said that, I'm not going to have characters killed or maimed beyond repair unless, for whatever reason, people want their character to have that kind of story arc.
For PC vs PC combat, or just PvP if we want to shorten it to a more common acronym, I'm going to trust players to come to some kind of natural mutually agreed upon conclusion. We're all adults here so if you set up a fight between two characters, or however many you might have, I expect you all to be civil and figure it out. If you really want an arbiter or something I can do so but I shouldn't need to.
Hope that answers your questions to some degree Azai
Azai - Riri "Ironheart" Williams
SexyStonerGal - Koriand'r "Starfire"
Viper-Segara - Pamela "Poison Ivy" Isley
Knight - Richard "Nightwing" Grayson
Seems like we have a plethora of female characters. Would be nice to have another guy or two probably. Grayson, as a character, wouldn't complain about being surrounded by beautiful women but I'd like a little balance.
And if people would like they could PM me their character sheets and hopefully we can get this off the ground.
Apologies for the double post but I was dead tired last night so I figured I oughta add all this in.
I'd love to join, as long as you don't mind a character changing alignment.
Name: Edward "Eddie" Brock
Personality: Eddie is an ambitious young man, quite rowdy and foolhardy as well. Impulsive and headstrong, Eddie acts on instinct, which frequently lands him in tough situations.
Powers/Skills: Superhuman strength, Symbiote "Spider-Sense", Shape-shifting, tendrils, stick to walls, form webbing.
History: After Highschool, Eddie sought work out the Daily Bugle as a photographer along with childhood friend Peter Parker. However, while Peter was capturing pictures of the Spider-Man, Brock was left in the shadows and in danger of losing his job. However, after a strange appearance of Spider-Man in a black suit, Brock took the opportunity to investigate. But what he found shook him to his core, that his old friend Peter was the Spider-Man, and was fighting for his life against some sort of black monster. Rushing in to save him, Brock pushed Parker out of the way of a fatal blow, instead taking the hit. However, rather than killing Eddie, he awoke to find his wound healed and that he was in the hospital, with Peter there to greet him. It wasn't much later that Eddie began to hear a voice that called itself Venom. Impressed by his willingness to save his friend, Venom decided that Brock was 'Interesting' and would stick around for a while. Learning that Venom was the monster he saved Peter from, and that Venom had granted him inhuman abilities, Eddie attempted to live up to Spider-Man's reputation as a hero, however the Symbiote proved difficult to control. Seeking a way to control his power, Eddie sought the Xavier school for the Gifted, the Alien, and the Exceptional.
Well, i'll throw in my own favorite cannon character...may be a bit strong for things, but she's not a first tier hero either. Might not be student material with her skills, but maybe could fit with a teacher role or something along the lines, dunno.
Name: Katherine "Kate" Rebecca Kane
Personality: Dedicated, serious, persistant, highly stubborn, clever, witty, never ending drive to succeed. Much like her cousin, Bruce, she is very serious when under the suit, often cracking cold, ruthless looking grins with her bright red lipstick to give herself a lasting impression upon those she'd face, with a near cold brutality that only matches her cousin due to her rough upbringing and how she got involved in the life overall. Out of the suit she can usually be fairly pleasant for the most part, having a calm, collected and charismatic presence to her, always calculating and ever adaptable, with a bit of a hot headed streak to her at times.
Kate Kane and her twin sister Beth were born to prominent colonel Jake Kaneand his wife Gabrielle, herself a captain. Both parents were on active military duty, and worked extensively with intelligence organizations. As her parents were promoted, they moved to and from a wide variety of towns and bases, though Jake was often away from home.
Eventually, the Kanes moved from Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Brussels, Belgium, where they worked with NATO. However, when Gabi decided to take the girls out for their twelfth birthday, they were attacked and kidnapped by terrorists. Though military intelligence managed to locate the hostages, Jacob only managed to rescue Kate, as both Gabi and Beth had been killed. He tried to prevent her from seeing the worst of it, but Kate was traumatized by the sight of her mother and sister's corpses.
Jacob was a supportive father, and Kate managed to deal with her grief by trying to emulate his cool-headedness. She excelled in school, and eventually was accepted into West Point as a cadet. She continued to excel at the Academy, eventually earning the rank of Brigade Executive Officer, as well as completing both Air Assault School and the U.S. Army Airborne School and earning prestigious awards like the RECONDO badge and the Superintendent's Award for Excellence. She also began a romantic relationship with Sophie Moore, a fellow cadet.
Shortly after Ring Weekend of Kate's final year at the Academy, she was anonymously accused of homosexual conduct. Though given the chance to stay at the Academy and accept a demotion, Kate instead chose to come out as a lesbian in order to prevent a further investigation and protect Sophie, and was expelled under Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell.
After military she spent a short while exploring, being a rather out of pent alcoholic, and trying to 'find' herself for a time, after undergoing over three years of intense training after a fateful encounter with Batman, she had one final test, all rused by her father in which despite her anger and rage, prevented herself from killing the terrorists she was sent to take down, proving that she was ready to begin the path as Batwoman and returned to the united states, where she knew she could help others in their path to being heroes as-well as herself, with her new mantle. She had much to truly learn, but what she did learn could help many others.
Acrobatics: Kate learned Parkour as part of her Batwoman training, and would also have been required to learn similar skills as a cadet.
Archery: Kate is capable of wielding a crossbow with great accuracy.
Business Management: Kate works at an office during her day job, though what exactly this entails is unknown.
Demolitions: When she was tasked with unmasking Batman by the DEO, part of Kate's ambush involved setting charges to blow out a section of a roof to fall inward. She also knows how to use detcord.
Driving: Particularly motorcycles.
Enhanced Senses: Kate's head wound was stitched shut with gold thread, giving her a limited ability to detect strong electromagnetic fields.
Equestrianism: On Coryana, Kate helped hunt infected foxes while on horseback.
Gadgetry: Kate is adept in the art of tinkering with things both mechanical and electronic.
Gymnastics: She is quite skilled in gymnastics (having trained in the sport since she was very young), and made it to Senior Elite level.
Indomitable Will: Kate has been able to fight off psychic attacks and various drug trips solely through force of will.
Interrogation: Batwoman does a lot of physical intimidation and violent interrogation work - though she wouldn't torture or deliberately maim people.
Investigation: During her Batwoman training, Kate received education from the FBI. She was able to deduce Batman's identity based on a handful of clues.
Leadership: Kate was one of the two leaders of the Gotham Knights.
Martial Arts: Kate received basic hand-to-hand combat training at West Point, then further, more intensive training in various martial arts during her travels around the world. Batman describes the way she fights as "fluid," "efficient," and "precise", and she is capable of using both orthodox and southpaw styles. Even before becoming Batwoman, Kate was skilled enough in unarmed combat to remain effective in a fight after being out-of-practice for a couple years, and, one on occasion, while blackout drunk. Kate has trained in at least 14 different styles, including:
Modern Army Combatives: A requirement for West Point cadets, MAC is a hybrid of various forms, such as:
Boxing: Kate was a boxer at West Point, though this was not a requirement for female cadets during her time there. It's possible Jacob may have taught her even earlier than that.
Karate: Given the general viciousness of Kate's fights, she was most likely trained in the Kyokushin style.
Ninjitsu: Though not a style in and of itself, Kate has demonstrated many of the component skills of ninjitsu, such as unarmed combat, throwing, stealth, horse riding, tactical analysis, geographical knowledge, espionage, disguise, swords, chain weapons, and use of firearms and explosives.
Tae Kwon Do
Medicine: Kate has been shown able to identify wounds and how old they are and describe them anatomically, administer stimulants, and perform minor surgery on herself.
Meditation: She used a word-association form of meditation to figure out how to thwart La Llorona.
Military Protocol: A one-time soldier raised by a career soldier, Kate is quite familiar with military policy, protocol and most aspects of life in the Army.
Multilingualism: Kate knows at least a bit of French, Portuguese, Hebrew, and Yiddish.
Music: Kate is a guitarist who occasionally performs in bars.
Occultism: Kate owns or is otherwise familiar with a wide variety of occult, esoteric, and mystical texts.
Peak Human Condition: As a result of her extremely rigorous training, Kate is now at the upper end of natural human abilities.
Peak Human Durability: Kate has shrugged off wounds from bladed weapons on numerous occasions, and even survived being stabbed in the heart; she willingly went off of painkillers after a week and was back at home in a month. She has taken full-force blows to the face from Bane and Killer Croc with only superficial damage.
Peak Human Speed: According to Batman, Kate has a reaction time of 50 milliseconds, which is 6-8 times faster than a human eye can blink.
Peak Human Strength: Kate is strong enough to shatter stone statues with a single punch, stagger both Bane and Killer Croc, throw and kick larger opponents multiple feet, punch apart military-grade helmets, and throw enemies through concrete-block walls.
Pedagogy: Kate trained the Gotham Knights.
Seduction: Of the distraction type.
Stealth: Kate once infiltrated an airborne military airship without raising alarm, and managed to make it to the bridge and subdue at least three soldiers before she revealed herself. She has also successfully ambushed Batman.
Surveillance: The final mission of her training required her to figure out guard patrol routes and avoid security cameras.
Survival: As part of her training, Kate crossed the Sahara with no supplies, and had to procure her own food and water along the way.
Swimming: In addition to required swimming classes at West Point, Kate received underwater combat training and can easily swim while carrying someone of a similar weight as her.
Tactical Analysis: While working with the DEO, Kate enacted an ambush against Batman that successfully resulted in his capture. She can identify certain martial arts forms by watching them (including finding flaws), and has studied the ancient Chinese text Thirty-Six Stratagems.
Tracking: She was able to read footprints in snow at a crime scene well enough to know that only GCPD officers had been there.
Weaponry: In addition to more standard weapons, Kate also regularly makes use of improvised weapons like rocks, bottles, fire extinguishers, etc.
Firearms: Kate has a much more lenient attitude toward guns than Bruce does, and has been trained in their use. She can even wield unfamiliar firearms with great accuracy.
