Ookami had several pictures of the forest he came from and they looked odd, especially with his color choices but they were pretty obvious what they were. He knew he wanted more practice drawing wolves so he could get his family drawn better. He wanted to teach Hitoshi about those that raised him if he could. Of course, Ookami would wait until his leg was better and his throat was back together before he asked if they could talk about seeing them. He hoped that Hitoshi could see that home was the best place for the wolf. Sadly, he wasn't thinking about whoever it was that brought him here in the first place.

The wolf wasn't constantly bothering Hitoshi, knowing that whatever he was staring at for so much time clearly interested him and the wolf didn't want to be a bother. He kept himself entertained and would show Hitoshi only after about the third drawing, getting more and more details each time. They were still childish but starting to pull together more and more. The human's support was enough to keep Ookami motivated and excited with his art.

Ookami looked up as he heard the other call out to him again and wanted him to practice the more... specific shapes. He nodded and looked for the key he needed to look things over before he started to paint out more letters with his markers. He started to play around and switch up the colors but he was getting a little better at the letters. They were big and like paint strokes but they were still kind of pretty.

Hitoshi didn't think Ookami would ever willingly sit and read a book but he might listen to one. He wasn't much of a fan of performing what he was reading so he'd look into getting some children's audio books. Ookami's bill was just racking up though Hitoshi didn't mind. He wasn't feeling necessarily paternal but he wasn't minding this company because unlike a child, Ookami knew when to not bother him. He saw he was doing something, even if he didn't understand it, and only interjected from time to time to show off his drawings. Already he was improving.

Ookami doesn't mind working on his letters and Hitoshi offers him some carrots and ranch to dip it in. He shows him what to do, dipping a little carrot in the white dressing and then biting into it. If he didn't like it it wasn't a big deal, he just wouldn't make it again. Ookami was pretty open to food and it wasn't like the end of the world if he didn't like something. Hitoshi will let Ookami do things his way, drawing or practicing because it all made his hands stronger and pictograms were already improving.

He isn't sure if Vailean will come for supper and he's not sure he wants to risk it. They were doing pretty good on their own...

Ookami had no problem working on his writing verse his drawing, as it was all the same to him, moving his hand in fluid motions and improving rather quickly because of it. The biggest problem were his letters were kind of big but otherwise they were getting prettier and more stable. The wolf would go over the sounds in his head with each one and would looked up or around on one he had forgotten but seemed to be able to remember things really well so it was never long before he was back to writing another letter.

Hitoshi seemed to like not being bothered too much so Ookami kept his energy level low enough that he wouldn't lose control from being too excited. For now he just occupied himself and left Hitoshi to his own devices. Ookami may be a wolf but when it came to occupying the same space as Hitoshi, he was more like a cat, quiet and mostly keeping to himself.

As the human began to teach him how to get his own snack, Ookami was excited for the new challenge. He took a carrot and dipped it in the ranch and bit into the carrot, smiling and digging in. He was sure to wait to see if this was a food that would put him to sleep but when he realized it wasn't, he devoured it like anything else. So far, the only thing Ookami turned his nose up for were onions. Other than that he was pretty open to anything.

Hitoshi appreciated that Ookami could be calm and do his own thing, it made cohabitation a hell of a lot easier. If Ookami hadn't been injured, he'd consider making him get up and do things but for now, working on his human skills were important. Hit didn't want him to lose his natural feral nature but he needed to know how to communicate and take care of himself. Hitoshi didn't doubt that he was a hell raiser in a fight with all those limbs but learning how to inhabit this estate with so many different people was important. He was already improving by the letter and he liked the carrots and ranch combination.

When it's time for dinner, Hitoshi asks Ookami to go bathroom and then wash his hands because he was going to teach him how to cook something easy. Food was working as a reward and stretching his leg some probably would be good for it. He wasn't even that good of a combat medic, he could dress wounds simply but in the heat of a fight the adrenaline usually kept the pain away. Now he had to make sure Ookami didn't overexert himself but still kept healthy. Laying around too much would give him a bedsore.

Hitoshi realizes he has to show Ookami how to wash his hands and the bathroom sink is a little oddly sized for Ookami but there's enough room for him to walk in. "Soap and water," he says, doing a pump of gel soap into his hands and rubbing them together before turning on warm water. He shows him the motions and then expects him to do it as well. "We're going to make food and you need clean hands to touch food so you don't get sick," He says, hoping Ookami will take to this like he has every other lesson.

After Ookami had worked his letter art for some time, Hitoshi wanted to switch gears and ask that he go to the bathroom before trying something new... May as well. Ookami was excited to learn and now, all his lessons were hands on so he was truly thrilled. The wolf limped outside, not putting any pressure on that bad hip of his just in case but being able to stretch his other legs was really nice and he returned from the bathroom a short time later. He walked with Hitoshi to the bathroom for a lesson on proper hand washing.

The wolf watched at first, taking the soap into his hands and simply copying the motions Hitoshi made, making sure his hands and fingers were well scrubbed before rinsing them off. He was pretty surprised since his hands had never really been that clean before but he was happy about it. The wolf smiled and wagged his tail before following the human out of the bathroom and back to the kitchen. The water had even been warm so it was really exciting. So... wash his hands before making food.... Got it.

When they reached the kitchen and Hitoshi began explaining how things worked there, Ookami just stared and observed for a while, slowly trying to copy movements even if he didn't have anything in his hands, wanting to learn as much as he could as quickly as he could. This was one pup that had loved learning from humans.

Ookami washes his hands very well and Hitoshi really is getting the hang of teaching. He had said to be called sensei because he knew he was in a teaching position but it was more literal than he imagined at the time. They head into the kitchen and Hitoshi thinks of something easy but had a little bit of actual cooking so Ookami would understand how to be careful of the stove. He settles on spam onigirazu, a Japanese 'fusion' dish if it could be called that. Spam was a bit hit in Japan and he quite liked his a little toasted.

First he shows how to wash the rice, measuring the rice into two cups and washing it so the water comes out clear. Everything he does he makes sure Ookami can see and understand what he's explaining. The rice will take the longest so they set that on before gathering everything else. He gets the spam out of the cupboard, spelling out the letters of spam so Ookami can recognize it. He also gets nori from the cupboard before getting some eggs and a little lettuce from the fridge. He cuts the spam into nice hunks and gets them going on the stove. He explains to be careful because of the fire but Ookami should recognize fire. The spam needs just a little olive oil to get going and he also throws two eggs in there so they'll cook up sunny side up.

It's really not that hard and he has Ookami mind the pan while he checks on the rice which really means he just has to stand there. He's going to make four onigirazu so this portion is for him. Ookami will do everything he does, cracking eggs, cutting spam, and frying them. Hitoshi shows how to assemble them with a layer of rice, then spam, then egg, then some lettuce for crunch and he wraps it up. He assembles all four and turns everything off that needs off before smiling and handing Ookami his plate. "It's hot but you did a very good job, Ookami-san," Hit praised, nodding his head towards the living room.

Ookami stuck around close but never in the way as he watched and took in as much information as he could. It was fascinating to watch Hitoshi move around and gather all the different foods he needed to put together some of the amazing things that the young wolf had been eating. Ookami still didn't like how long it took humans to prepare what they were eating, rather than just digging into what was around, but the result was tasty so he couldn't really complain at all.

The wolf watched and would do what he was told and followed all of Hitoshi's instructions as well as copying his movements. The wolf was certainly slower and his motor skills were still lacking but he was certainly giving it his best effort and he wanted to hopefully please Hitoshi with how quickly he was learning. Every time he was praised, Ookami's tail would wag even if he didn't personally look towards Hitoshi or show that he was really excited about it. The tail wouldn't lie, that was for sure.

As he was put in charge of watching the pan while Hitoshi turned to work on something else, the wolf stared at the eggs like a hawk. He wanted to do something to help but just standing here was what he was told to do so he stared and wouldn't even so much as blink until he was dismissed of his duties. When it came to cracking eggs... Well the wolf was a little different. He would simply dig his sharp claws right through the middle and pull both halves of the shells away from the egg and manage to "Crack" the egg without any shells. Cutting was awkward and so was frying but he did his best, that was for sure. When it was all done, Ookami was really excited to see the plate and nodded. Hot food meant he had to wait and use the blow technique... He'd get to it.

He limped back off to the couch and made sure to put his plate on the table before he got onto the couch to start eating it. He was slow, blowing on it for a long time before each bite.

Ookami struggled a little bit but he didn't give up and these tasks weren't particularly hard so he was able to get them. If they were repeatedly difficult tasks he might get frustrated but Ookami was patient and thorough and it showed in the end. Both of their plates were pretty identical and Hit had made sure he didn't burn anything. It was kind of nice cooking with someone else who was determined to learn and these were skills he could take anywhere. Wells did have a rotating cast of characters who sometimes didn't stay here forever but Ookami would be kept at the estate as a personal favor push come to shove. He was a good kid and while still being in his native land would be best, this was a good place to end up.

Hitoshi watched Ookami go back to the living room before he remembers beverages and so he ends up doing a little serving tray with his plate and both two cups of water and a bowl of water. He'd see if Ookami had it in him to learn one more trick today. He was definitely improving by the activity. Tomorrow he'd go get more crafts and things to engage him and some children's audio books. That way he could relax and listen to something without feeling like he was stuck and bored.

Hitoshi sits down for dinner and he thinks they did a pretty good job. The flavors are simple but pleasant and they fit his palate well. "You did very good," Hitoshi says again, nodding as he eats dinner.

It was like magic how the food changed color and the room started to change in scent. It was truly amazing and Ookami was staring and getting randomly excited but he was careful not to be a bother. Thankfully, Hitoshi was very attentive and really helped Ookami who really knew nothing about cooking until today. The magic that happened and yet, Hitoshi seemed really focused and helpful with focusing and keeping this hot magic from murdering his food in fire.

Ookami truly hoped Hitoshi would let the wolf stick around here even if he wasn't allowed to go home. He wanted to stay with Hitoshi and be a friend to him if allowed but the wolf wasn't going to push it. Ookami was blowing on the food and just trying to get it to cool down and he waited for Hitoshi to come sit down and the wolf saw that he brought something to drink as well. The wolf wondered why there were three cups.. well two cups and a bowl but he did want to try and understand the cup... He just didn't want to make yet another big mess.

Once more, Ookami was praised and he looked up at the human and smiled, wagging his tail. The wolf was really happy to be praised and pointed to Hitoshi's food and then pat his head the same way he had Ookami's trying to praise him while carefully not using his voice. He wanted to get his throat better so they could talk again.

Hitoshi chuckled softly when Ookami pat his head this time and nods that yes, they've done a good job. They accomplished a hell of a lot today what with doctor and alphabet and cooking. Ookami was really proving to be a smart individual and Hit didn't mind his company so much now that they were on the same general page. He was still a cat person but if Ookami needed a place to stay, Hit would host him. He's a good kid and Wells was going to like him quite a lot. He hoped that he wouldn't use him for his weird sexual fantasies but he couldn't tell the Boss what to do, that's not how it worked. If Ookami wanted to be involved in sexual escapades, he also couldn't stop him. He just had a picture of the wolf boy in his head as rather innocent and that felt right to keep it that way.

Hitoshi eats dinner with a show on, something easy, a sitcom that wasn't particularly challenging for anyone but let him turn his mind off. Focusing on teaching the wolf boy all day was somewhat taxing but with him being as receptive as he was, it wasn't that bad. It could have been far worse, of course. Hitoshi eats his supper and then sets the plate on the coffee table before kicking his feet up and flipping the channels. He was a simple man who preferred books but from time to time he could do some television. He finds a free movie on tv and it's some action adventure cartoon that he thinks Ookami would like. Believe it or not, Hit liked animated movies. They were simple and didn't ask him to think much and considering how tough his life was, that's the kind of unwinding he liked.

Ookami focused on eating for a while but when the TV turned on again, he lifted his head and focused on that, getting distracted from his food for a while before he managed to pull himself back. The wolf barely understood what was going on half the time on the moving picture box but sometimes language was a barrier he wasn't good with. Still, he was trying to keep track of it all. As hard as it was, it was still very interesting to watch and the wolf really did want to be able to learn more about humans and this seemed like a good a way as any. He continued to eat and drank out of the bowl properly. He didn't try the bite the edge and tip the bowl back technique.

Once the wolf pushed his plate away, he made himself a little more comfortable and looked at the TV. Ookami wanted to lay down and place his head on Hitoshi's lap but that was very much out of line so he just settled himself and leaned back against the couch better, letting his legs stretch just a little, without using his right hip so he wouldn't hurt it any more. Ookami saw the pictures change and the colors were so bright and it was so different from anything he'd ever seen before. The style was so strange and the people were all so different. Ookami stared and seemed to lean forward a little in amazement. It looked so interesting. The wolf was mesmerized.

Apparently cartoons were the only thing that could stop Ookami from eating, or rather, take a pause from eating. Hitoshi thinks the cartoon would be easy on a kid learning the world with new eyes but he was always at odds forgetting the wolf part. He did fine, though, not barking or feeling distressed from the show. It was one of those more teenager-y cartoons where the kids solve mysteries and slightly odd creatures show up to give them trouble. It's a cabin in the woods mystery and it's got some okay plot that isn't necessary to enjoy the show but it helps. They both get comfortable with the show for a while until darkness weaves through the house and it's time to turn some interior lights on.

Hitoshi gets up and turns on some standing lamps to make it easier to see and after checking the time, figures he could head to bed. He gives Ookami the clicker and shows him the power off and on button. "Use this when you're done and it'll go away until you hit it again," He says, not bothering to explain the volume because it was at a fine level now. He does show him how to flip the channels though and then pats his head. "I'm going to go to bed. You know how to bathroom and you should be comfortable here. You need to sleep, Ookami-san, or I will be upset in the morning and you will have to go to sleep," He says, giving the wolf opportunity to continue being so well behaved. He didn't care if he fell asleep right away but he needed to try and get a few hours.

Content that Ookami ought to be fine, he pauses on his way out of the room and says, "Call me if you need me. Goodnight, Ookami-san." Then he's gone to go to bed.

Ookami didn't understand what was going on and half the time, couldn't tell what was a person's name, verse the name of a place, or of an object... It was hard for the wolf because he had such little reference to what things were. However, characters responding to their names or things being a bit different colored when they started to talk about it, or they would say to look at something and then the screen would suddenly show it, it helped. Sure, nothing was perfect but the wolf wasn't stupid so he was trying really hard to pick up on different things at different times. The wolf was so focused on the moving pictures and lights that he didn't notice the light outside, fade to darkness.

When Hitoshi started to turn on lights, the wolf lifted his head and looked around taking in more of his surroundings. Now that he had watched the show, he started to be able to pick out the different objects around the room to be similar to those in the picture screen. Sometimes things didn't look exactly the same but he was still able to put things together for the most part. The wolf was handed the remote and he looked at it, being taught the button to change the channel and the power button so he nodded and pretty much left it alone for now, preferring to leave things the way they were.

When Hitoshi warned Ookami about needing sleep, the wolf lowered his head and ears. He didn't want to sleep and didn't want to be put to sleep either. He shook his head and reached out but Hitoshi had moved just out of reach seconds before the wolf could grab him and the wolf sat there, a bit shaken as the human called out to him one more time before disappearing to bed. Ookami looked to the pictures he'd drawn and whimpered slightly before laying down completely and staring blankly at the moving colors on the screen. He didn't want to sleep...

Hitoshi did his night time ritual, taking a nice hot shower and doing a hair treatment before getting into bed. He laid awake for a little while just thinking about how much was achieved today. Ookami put in a lot of good effort and already he was better than when he arrived. When his hip was healed then he could actually take him out into the estate and show him to the Boss. It was nice to hang out with him when they were both on the same page, not unlike having a pet. He knew that wasn't what Ookami was but it's hard to place exactly where he fell in Hitoshi's mind. Not a pet but part animal, a weird combination to be.

Several hours after he falls asleep, he's woken up to the panic howling of the wolf boy. Hitoshi gets to his feet, grabbing a robe to keep himself decent and rushing downstairs. The lights hadn't been turned off the television was still on but the dog boy was howling in his dreams. "Ookami-san!" Hitoshi says loudly, striding forward to try and grab him by the shoulders to wake him up.

Ookami had stayed up for a while, just staring at the moving pictured and gently cradling the remote in his hands as he laid sprawled out on his side. It was a little more awkward to fit on the couch when he is stretched out on his side because he was quite a large wolf and his legs always stuck off. Ookami had to be careful to keep his back right leg tucked up so it wouldn't be the one hanging. For now, the wolf was protesting sleep but knew Hitoshi would be upset if he didn't rest. He needed to.....

At some point, the wolf must have fallen asleep because he began to have the worst night terrors and was howling loudly, squirming slightly, his body desperate to wake him up. The wolf was freaking out and Hitoshi rushed in to grab him and start trying to wake him as well. The wolf let out a snarl and snapped wildly, clambering to his feet and snarling loudly for a solid minute before he finally woke up and quieted down, looking around, lost and confused for a moment. Ookami saw Hitoshi and his ears dropped, tail between his legs and the wolf whined audibly, the remote having been tossed to the ground in his panic. Ookami looked around and saw that it was still dark... He was shaking and feeling horrible... he was once again being a bother.

Ookami reacted about how he expected and Hitoshi stepped back as he snapped and growled and slowly came out of his nightmare. He was standing on the couch, in fight or flight, and Hitoshi had to admit, seeing Ookami up close at a more eye level made his weird wolf body man torso situation come into another wave of weird. Hitoshi can hide it, though, because Ookami doesn't need him to be an asshole right now. He had clearly fallen asleep and had a nightmare, probably about his capture. He had no other clues what could cause this sort of response. Hitoshi sighs as Ookami wakes up and sees him and he rubs the bridge of his nose before gesturing with his arm for him to lay back down. This was a huge couch, it should be somewhat impossible for Ookami to fall off but he had definitely moved a lot.

Hitoshi finds the remote and turns the tv off, setting the clicker on the coffee table before sitting down on the unoccupied stretch of couch that made up the other 90 degrees. He puts his elbows on his knees and then his chin in his hand, looking at Ookami and trying to figure out what to do. Clearly he was upset and it was because of nightmares. That made it a little more challenging to deal with. Perhaps he'd feel better if he knew that his family was alright but Hit didn't even know where to start with that. Perhaps tomorrow while Ookami hung out and did crafts, he could make some calls. Now, though, Hitosh figures Ookami will go to sleep if he feels protected.

So he gets to his feet and makes his end of the couch comfortable, briefly going to the linen closet to get a sheet to lay under so his ass wasn't in the wind. He sits down on the couch and drapes the sheet over himself before taking off his robe. Of course he slept naked and he wasn't going to compromise his comfort more than that. "I'll sleep here. You go back to sleep too, alright?" Hit says, hoping that'll solve the problem for now as he lays back and stares over at the other until he does as he's told.

Hitoshi-sensei was so quiet. He didn't say anything at first to Ookami, only motioning with his hands for the wolf to settle down. He whimpered softly and laid back down, settling with his wolf half but sitting up with his human half, hands in front of him nervously. Thankfully, it didn't seem he'd hurt the human with his flailing but he was still worried about it and didn't mean to react the way he did. Ookami hoped that Hitoshi could forgive him but he looked... frustrated... maybe flustered? It was hard to say with humans but he didn't look angry really... Maybe it was just pity.

Hitoshi turned the TV off and moved the clicker to the table and sitting down himself. He looked at the wolf who was quick to turn his head down and away in shame. Ookami tried to make himself as small as he could, wishing Hitoshi would yell and get it over with, but also didn't want him to be angry at all. This had been a horrible night... Maybe he should have taken the wrath and not slept... Though he had dozed off because he was comfortable... That was bad.

Once the human got up and began to gather some things before making himself comfortable on the couch to sleep, Ookami realized that Hitoshi wasn't angry but feeling more responsible for the wolf and protective of him. Ookami whimpered a bit and began to crawl over to Hitoshi's side and pilled a blanket next to Hitoshi's head and used that as a pillow as the wolf accepted that his night pictures were terrifying but he knew sleep was needed. With Hitoshi around, he did feel a lot more calm and comfortable, hearing his breathing nearby put the wolf at ease and he closed his eyes and peacefully slept the rest of the night.

Hitoshi could tell Ookami was nervous to be yelled at but this wasn't a situation anger could solve. He had interacted with dogs back home from time to time and he knew they could read emotions rather well. That's why tone of voice was how they read humans, not the words themselves. Ookami could understand some speech, though, and he was again struck thinking this was a puppy. Puppies didn't like sleeping alone because they weren't used to it. Probably the same with a wolf who was used to living with a pack. The couch was huge and comfortable enough so they could both occupy half and be alright.

Hitoshi makes himself a spot and Ookami whimpered but laid down, understanding that this wasn't a game. Either he tried to get some sleep or Hitoshi would drug him again, not that he knew that. After Ookami starts to settle, Hitoshi rolls over and falls asleep as well and there were no more night terrors. At least that problem was solved for now. In the morning, Hitoshi got his robe on before throwing the sheet off himself. He slept fine because that couch was nothing but comfort. Nothing beat his bed though but he could suffer this for a while. With a large yawn, Hitoshi takes his sleepy body into the kitchen to start making coffee.

While he gets the brewer going, he writes out a list of things he needs to work on today. First would be things for Ookami to play with to keep busy while he laid around. Then he could make phone calls and see if anyone knew anything about a wolf centaur. Come to think of it, Ookami might be tagged, too, since he had some human speech but mostly lived with wolves. There's no way he's a natural phenomenon. He'll have to go dig through his storage to get his tag reader. He bumps that to number two after Ookami activities.

Ookami managed to sleep through the night without any issues this time, and only woke when Hitoshi began to stir. Honestly, the wolf didn't care if the human was naked or not, he was use to there not being clothes covering those around him but he understood that humans needed the warmth, and they had their own feelings about wearing clothes. Still, Ookami woke up and stirred, yawning and sitting up as Hitoshi got up and went straight for the kitchen... Hitoshi spent a lot of time in the food room... That was alright, and Ookami simply got up and went straight outside to relieve himself.

After a few short minutes, the wolf returned and looked towards Hitoshi, wondering if they were going to do another lesson or activity before he should lay on the couch again but the human also seemed to be working on something so the wolf didn't want to bother him. Ookami turned and climbed back onto the couch, laying down for the time being and just going back to staring randomly outside. He was a bit afraid of touching things without permission so Ookami didn't touch the clicker, or any of the paper and markers. He would wait until he had permission and was given a task.

Ookami perked up when Hitoshi left the kitchen again and just watched him as he moved around, careful to stay quiet and not be a bother. He was fine with that. Watching humans was one of his favorite pass times and now this was one he could watch up close and who was comfortable with him being around. Not to mention, he actually knew Hitoshi so it added a level of something more for the wolf to enjoy while he sat there observing.
