The shaded isles are a group of six small islands in the middle of the water. One big island in the middle with five smaller ones surrounding it. Each island seems to be uninhabited when looking at them from the ocean, although every island has a permanent shadow looming over it. During the day it's like one big dark spot in the middle of the bright ocean, with no reason for it being so dark. The islands were not normally there, they appeared there and are alarmingly close to the Altia Isles. No, this isn't some island where "Ships go and don't return" the ships always come back when they set out to explore the island. But when they come back... They come back as empty ships, the crew is nowhere to be found and can not be contacted.

This is for The Shaded Isles, part one to part five. (There is a possibility I may stretch it out through more parts. Each plot is one part, after each plot is completed the next part will become available in Port Redwarren by speaking to Victor or by setting off on your own if he is not available.)

Monsters in area: Unknown.

Recommended party size: 4 (Counting Victor, as he will accompany you in most of the plots)

~Plots~ (Plot difficulty is based off the difficulty for a fully equipped team of 4 people)
Part 1: Discovering the Shaded isles (In progress)
Part 2: Return to the Shaded Isles (Not started.)
Part 3: The heart of the shadows. (Not started)
Part 4: A light in the darkness (Not started)
Part 5: Liberating the Shaded Isles.  (Not started)

(It is suggested that any plots from plot two on are not done alone. As it would be very difficult for one person to take on an but the first one alone.)

-- Part 1: Discovering the shaded Isles--

It was early in the morning as the ship with everyone on it approached the islands. The shadow over the islands gave it a dark and eerie look, it was always as dark as night here even when the sun was out. As the boat landed on the island they could all feel an overwhelming sensation of malicious energy. It was like they could all sense an incredibly powerful force that made it completely clear it did not want them there.

"This... Feels kindof... Dangerous." Jarred said quietly, his hand remained close to where his pistol rested on his hip. Cautiously walking off the ship.

"Yes." Victor said "we came here expecting some danger. Everyone stay on your toes." The old man added as he anchored the boat to the island and began getting off the boat.

"Yeah! We came here specifically for the danger, this feels like it's gonna be a fun trip!" Rin almost cheered, it seemed the novice twins were very excited about this seemingly dangerous island. They both practically sprinted off the ship, weapons drawn and ready to rush off into action with Lin by his side, her staff in hand as she looked around for something she could blast.

Richard walked off of the boat, having rather enjoyed the trip, despite the twins endless energy. It was like someone took a hamster, gave it a sugar rush, and then injected it with meth. If they could harness that energy for good, then heading back home would be no problem. As it was though, they would make do with swords and guns, with the occasional display of magic for their intentions.

He loosened his rather rusty sword in it's scabbard, looking around. "Really dark..."

"Well, they are called the shaded isles and not the bright and shiny isles." Lin chuckled before the blonde twins began walking up the beach and towards the forest further into the land. With jarred trailing a short distance behind them. "Lets go we got an island to explore." She added.

Victor laughed lightly as he followed them. "You younger people are so energetic." The old man mused. "Be careful though, I can sense a very strong creature here. It feels like one of the titan monsters from the beta tests, and if that is the case we will not be able to fight it. We'll have to flee." He said. "But lets keep looking for now, it may not be a titan." He added before following the others towards the woods. "Slow down you two! You got a cranky old man who can't walk too fast trying to keep up." He called out.

(How much money does Richard have on him?)

[[50 on him. He hasn't sold the plates yet so... Yeah.]]

"Too dark... Not Shady." His scared vocals made it hard to communicate, that was for certain... The island also rubbed him the wrong way a bit, as if there was danger. Then again, that danger feeling just got his heart beating faster and a small smile came to his face as he wiggled his sword out a bit more from it's holding in the shield.*

He followed closely after Victor, watching the two twins. "Should I get 'em?" He said to Victor, looking at the old man.

(Alright, fixed his inventory in the inventory topic. :) And yeah, I remembered that he didn't sell the plates yet)

"No, I think they heard me." Victor said. And the twins did hear him as they begrudgingly slowed down a little. They had just been stepping into the forest, all energetic and ready to go. But, the next thing Richard knew, they were deep in the middle of the forest and the group was a little worn down, it was like he had just missed a big chunk of the journey. They had some cuts and scrapes that hadn't been there before, even Richard himself had a few small ones.

"Stay on your toes everyone, there's more coming!" Victor called out. The group formed a tight circle, mostly standing back to back with victor and watched as many Shadow People were walking out out of the darkness of the forest. They were shadows, but stood up as three dimensional people and they were all solid. Surrounding the group. There was thirty of them in total, and they were all carrying weapons ranging swords, hammers, and melee weapons to bows and crossbows. Their weapons were also made of shadows, but that didn't make them any less dangerous then a normal weapon.

The shadow army almost instantly rushed in at the group, running in from all directions. Although, there was so many they couldn't all rush in at once so some were a couple steps ahead of the others. Killing these creatures would be an easy task, the difficult part here was not getting hit and worn down by the sheer masses.

Three sword wielding shadow people ran after Richard, one from the front and two others standing alongside the first one, but trying to move around to attack Richard from the sides.

There was six charging at the side of the square-ish circle  formation that Rin and Lin were on, three charging at the side Jarred was on, and nine running after Victor's side. It seemed the shadow people knew who the leader and strongest person of the group was and were targeting him. Jarred had taken a few shots at the three that were running at him, hitting two of them in the chest which caused them to disappear in a puff of black smoke.

Richard blinked, stunned for the moment as his mind tried to take in everything. He was missing time, his sword was out (must have drawn it), his shield had a few nicks on it (must have used it), the number of cuts on him (attacked), and the approaching foes (battle just began again). As he figured this out, the shadowy figures approached and he struck out at the middle one, moving quickly to the side to keep them from flanking him.

His movements to avoid being flanked was a good idea, since that was what the shadows were attempting to do. The first one attempted to block his attack but failed and was hit, making the shadow-person disappear in a puff of black smoke. Although dodging to the left side put him face to face with the shadow-person who was trying to come around from the left. That shadow person quickly slashed it's sword for Richard's ribs, while the other one that was still near him started trying to move in from his side. His smart choice of movement delayed this one's attack though.

[[Gah! Sorry that took too damn long. Things will be faster now.]]

Richard had expected the shadow to attack him once he dodged to the left and he brought his shield up to block the attack.  He stepped backwards, swinging his sword low to cut out the shadow's legs, trying hard to keep one shadow between him and another. If he was flanked by a shadow, that would be the end of him. That was his thought process, and was a very valid one. An injury would slow him down and make combat a bit less fun.

All through the battle, Richard was smiling.

With his quick mind and sharp combat skill, it was very possible he may catch the eye of the Moderators some day. Richard seemed to have the skill at the elite group of Moderators looked for in their members, he just needed a little more power which everyone would get in time. The shadow's sword was blocked by his shield, plus the shield held the shadow's sword back to prevent the creature from blocking Richard's following swing. As the shadow was hit by the slash it, like the others, disappeared in a puff of black smoke and was temporally warded away.

The third shadow, which had been on his right finally reached him. But this one instead of lashing out right away took a defensive stance with it's sword and began circling Richard. The shadows may not be the best of fighters, but they do learn from mistakes.

Seeing an opening in the battle, three more of the shadow people began rushing in to replace the previous two. But it would be a moment before they reached Richard.

[Nearly a month afterwards. Things have been busy but that is no excuse.]

Richard was pleasantly surprised when the shadow showed that it had intelligence, though it was rather unexpected. He had expected the shadow people to be stupid, not able to learn. His smile became a grin. It was much more fun to fight a thinking target.

Still, fighting a defensive target wasn't fun and he stayed still for a moment before dashing towards the ones that were focusing on Jared. He slashed at them as he passed before settling in by him. "Well, this is quite fun." He said in his horse, gravely voice.

Jarred was trying to back off as he reloaded, not wanting to be caught in close range with these melee fighters. But thankfully, before the shadows could reach him Richard had gotten between them and Jarred and blocked their path. The first of the three shadows was caught off guard by the surprise attack and was killed when Richard slashed at it. But the other two were quick to stop and evade his swings. The two of them, along with the one defensive shadow Richard had been fighting before, started trying to surround Richard. The one he had been fighting before was already to his left, and the other two were already to his right, one of them was just trying to move infront of him to form a triangle around him.

Richard was not alone though, as Jarred reloaded and was ready to take another shot.

[BLARGH! Why did that take 3 months?! I'm sorry for not posting in that absurd amount of time. I got my will to rp back though. Time shenanigans can continue.]

Richard smiled as he settled into a defensive stance. Considering that Jarred was close by, he would not have to be as aggressive, just making sure that none of the shadows got behind him. Considering that there were three of them however, that would be quite difficult. "Come on." He growled, beginning to get quite into it.

Jarred was quick to move behind Richard once his gun was reloaded, noticing that the shadows were surrounding the man and making a point to cover Richard's back. "Got your back." He said, standing rather close to Richard. He held his fire for the moment, knowing they'd just dodge again if he tried to shoot them. The three shadows began their charge on Richard and Jarred, focusing on Richard since he was in the front. One ran in from the front, one from the left, and one from the right. They were all preparing to slash their swords at him when they got close. "Pin the one on the right, evade the other two" Jarred called out, and regardless of whether or not Richard followed his instructions he would fire a shot at the shadow creature on the right.

"Thanks." Richard said as he continued to grin. He was enjoying this, perhaps a little too much. Fights always got his blood moving, even though this one was mostly waiting. When Jarred offered his input on what should be done, Richard nodded before he ran to the right, in between the center and right shadows. He risked injury, that much was true, but fortune favored the bold.

He dashed forward, shield poised to block an attack from the left, and sword slashing the feet of the rightmost shadow. He was enjoying this too much.

Jarred was quick to shoot the shadow on the right, who was too busy dodging the slash towards it's feet to evade the bullet. The shadow disappeared in a puff of smoke. The middle shadow ran at Richard's back, but Jericho had him covered and shot the shadow while it was in mid-slash. Making it disappear in another puff of smoke before it's sword could hit Richard.

Victor saw that there was two shadows left, one being handled by Lin and Rin, and one that was attacking Richard and Jarred. Victor raised his hand and shot another sharp crystal spike at the shadow near Richard, shooting it in the chest and making that one also disappear in a puff of smoke.

Rin was quick to slam his sword into the other shadow warrior's blade, locking them in place as their swords pressed against eachother. Lin was quick to see the opening her brother was giving her and shot a fireball at the shadow, striking it in the back and making it shriek in pain as it melted into the ground. And with that, the last of the shadow people were defeated.

"We got them all, hurry before more come, again." Victor stated.

"How many times have we killed these things?" Jarred groaned. "I swear it's the same ones too. It's like they just keep respawning and attacking again." He stated.

"This is the fourth time they've attacked today." Rin stated. "You should have seen the camp last night though, we're lucky Lin figured out that they can't get through fire. There was just so many of them." He said. "The group seems to keep getting a little smaller each time we fight them though." He added.

Richard's face was in a small grin as the fight finished, having had a strange amount of fun just then. While it was not the most challenging fight he had ever had, it certainly was an entertaining one. The grin quickly faded as he sheathed his sword, standing up from the almost crouch he had been in. "Thanks." He said roughly at Jarred as he walked to join the others.

When the topic of last night was brought up, he paused, his face looking confused. "Hold. Last night?" How long had they been on the island, and why did he not remember?

Jarred nodded in his own silent way of saying thanks and turned to the others. "Is everyone alright?" Victor asked. Then he turned to Richard when he asked his question. "Yeah, last night when we first encountered these things. I've been keeping track of the time, even if we can't see the sun." He said. Something just wasn't right about these things, Victor was quick witted and quick to realize that something was wrong.

"I'm not feeling too well." Rin said. To which Lin nodded I agreement.

"I think we're getting sick." Lin added. "This place is really cold, maybe that's why?"

Richard's brow furrowed when he heard of the supposed fact that they had been there a night and a day so far... "Didn't we..." He said slowly, his voice the same painful grumble as it was before. "Just get off... The boat?" This place... This place was not just a shaded island. Time was different here... This was much different than he thought it would be.
